On the Road with the Walker’s 🚗 May 8, 2026
Like many of our supporters I remember January 28, 1986 like it was yesterday. The space shuttle Challenger broke apart 73 seconds into its flight with the disaster occurring shortly after lift off resulting in the death of all seven crew members I was a junior in high school and watched it happen with my classmates.
While this tragedy was devastating, something wonderful emerged from this horrific event. As a country, we developed over 30 active Challenger learning centers globally. The centers are primarily in the United States, with additional locations in Canada, the United Kingdom and South Korea. Their focus is to provide space themed STEM education.
The campaign team had the honor of attending the opening of the new Challenger center today that will be a robust educational tool for the children of North Alabama. The groundbreaking was attended by approximately 1000 people and words cannot express the effort it took to make this dream become a reality.
We would like to thank everyone that had a hand in this endeavor and look forward to the blessings it will bring to our community.
As your next United States Senator, I vow to continue working hard to bring home the bacon for more centers just like this across the southeast and across our nation.
And tomorrow the trail continues.
